Somewhere in the Recycling Can

seamster has created a hybrid target sport to be played indoors....read on;

Disc golf is a great sport--it's healthy, fun, low impact, and fairly inexpensive to get into. The only problem is that sometimes you just can't get out to play. ...There's no course nearby, there's two feet of snow on the ground, you lost all your discs... whatever.

Well, now there's no excuse! Play indoors by making your own disc catcher (or in this case, a "capcatcher") from a 20-ounce sports drink bottle, and use old bottle caps as the flying discs.

In my opinion, this is just farking awesome!!! Thank you for sharing this sport with the world and keep coming up with new ways for us to enjoy the flying spinning things of life!

seamster's innovative, step-by-step designs can all be found at:

BTW

This is an unrelated picture of seamster. He bought this recently and asks,"I found this strange glow-in-the-dark helmet at a thrift store. What should I make out of it?"

Somewhere Out There

ajbegg posted these on instructables.com....cool site, haven't seen it before! Wish I could post a lead toward the origin of these pics, but no dice.

Charles Wolf sent in this model he designed and built. Being of the engineering mindset he left thorough instructions for this sturdy variety at:
http://charleswolf.wordpress.com/2009/05/19/disc-golf-target/

Charles notes:
I’ve been playing disc golf occasionally for the last few years and I always thought the target / basket would be something I could make. I did a little research on the internet thinking I would run across some good plans. There weren’t any that I liked so I made my own. My design needed to be semi portable and require no welding.

Thanks Charles!

Dischead completed the construction of his first baskets! I'm lovin' up the patio base idea. I always thought that could be a really sturdy option....great to see it done!

It cost me about $60 to make. Everything came from Lowe's except the base...which is
an umbrella stand from the ole'patio furniture--and the top of the basket...which is
an aluminum platter from an old "lazy susan".

Fantastic work...bet it catches well!

Wow!!! Up in BC Chris is perfecting the craft of designing and building homemade baskets. Already on his fifth model he's building them better and cheaper with each generation. You must visit his web site which includes an instructional video. This man is passionate about his art and I'm quite thankful for his submission as well as his kind review of this site.
