Maui, HI

Jack T. has done it again!!! How lucky we are to vicariously live his disclife. This time he traveled to PoliPoli in Maui. After a little research I've discovered a lot of controversy surrounding this "private/public" park (http://www.orb3d.com/maui.html) but one thing is for certain...if you needed just one more reason to visit the islands, here it is!
Can you find it?

Camo-style!!!

Jack says: The people that get to play this course regularly are to be envied. The scenery is incredible, the terrain varied, the design varied and interesting, and best of all, it's isolated. And the homemade 'tire-baskets do a great job catching discs.

If you're like me and love playing disc golf courses wherever your travels take you, you'll love Poli Poli- if you can find it. It's the perfect combo of beauty, challenge, and uniqueness (ocean views, quirky baskets and surreal orange-lichen covered trees).

supercool...hanging baskets make me nostalgic now. Mine never had a temple though

Jack fires off a putt to the hanging basket...

...and he nails it! (of course!!)

My gratitude to Jack T. for sharing this amazing set. Be sure to check out his great site which chronicles many of his disc golf adventures and more:

Polipoli II

Found some vid of PoliPoli. These Massholes (the dacrons) investigate the course in anthropological fashion. I would say it's a funny clip but I'll let you be the judge. What's really funny is people talking and thinking about disc golf who have never played before.

PoliPoli III

....and some legit vid of real discgolfers on the course. Dig the cheesey piano-plucked ending!

Somewhere in Central Texas

Joel sent these awesome pics after finding one of his earlier models posted on Just Baskets. He offers some design advice too:

One thing I found in experimenting with building baskets (I built 3 before these incarnations) is that sharp edges eat discs. I use these mostly for putting practice with soft putters, and a basket built of rubber does the least amount of damage.

I enjoyed browsing your site. I maintained (or failed to maintain) a site devoted to disc golf in Central Texas for about 7 years. It was hard to stay on top of all the changes to the courses when my free time diminished, and in the end other sites picked up the torch when gps mapping became the norm.

I say that's some tight and sturdy design work there...sweet target! Thanks for the pics and the kind words!!
